Long before the days of internet, blogging and emails, I’ve always written

about the places we visited

and took note of the food that we ate and the prices.

Most importantly, I would put notes about how accommodating the

owner was

or how friendly the people were and if it was worth going back to.

Together with my husband who was a retired pilot,

we've been to more than one hundred (100) countries and seven (7)

continents.

OVER THE LAST 25 YEARS :

• We’ve driven across mainland Europe for five months including United Kingdom (Wales and Scotland). Following that, we shipped our car to Bremerhaven in Germany and waited for its arrival in Nova Scotia, Canada.

• Driven across Canada from Halifax, Nova Scotia (Eastern) all the way to Vancouver island (Western) for more than three months with a driving distance of more than 15,000 km.

• We also drove across the continental United States three times all the way to Key West, Florida, starting from Vancouver, British Columbia and back. The first time, we explored all the National and State parks along the way, and towns and cities averaging more than 26,000 miles each time. We were on the road for six (6)months each time and visited fifty (50) major National Parks and several hundred State parks.

• We also drove from Perth, Western Australia all the way to Albany and back.

• Spent winter in Europe and experienced the European way of celebrating the Christmas Holidays starting in the Christmas markets of Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, and Switzerland.

• Stayed in Paris, France for more than two (2) months to experience it in our own budgetary ways.

• Toured Asia extensively for more than 10 years .

• The last few years, we’ve done two (2) 150 days cruises around the world , 75 days cruises around Asia and Australia, 67 days cruises around South America, 55 days cruise to the South Pacific, 60 days cruise to Asia and back to back Mediterranean cruises, Transatlantic cruises and short cruises that goes from anywhere between 14 days to 2 months.

As world travelers, we had experienced luxurious accommodations and dined at Michelin star restaurants and used five-star hotels.

At the same token, we've also used bed and breakfast and reasonably

priced motels long before the presence of Airbnb's.

There's nothing wrong with cheap accommodations and you'll be surprised that you'll meet the most hospitable and friendliest people in such places.

Also, there's probably the best fish tacos or the best soup goulash just around the corner for a penny!
