Apart from the beach, Ceara is well known for wood carvings, ceramics, leather works, woven hammocks and lacework. Mercado central is one of the best place to look for traditional artesanato. It is an indoor shopping center that has multiple stores and vendors that eager to sell the same items : purses, cashew nuts, t-shirts, linens, bathing suits, sundresses and sandals. You'll also find ample proof of needle skills in the exquisite embroidery, lace, and crochet from pillows to tablecloths and skirts.
