Visiting Family In Cayman Islands
The physical beauty and superb climate of the Cayman islands have made them a haven for tourists.

Before I came to the Cayman Islands, I had this image of nothing but a pin-striped paradise for offshore bankers. A small place in the Caribbean where globally rich people invest their money tax free! I also thought that it would be the usual tourist stop; A big resort where, booze cruises stop to let their booze thirsty passengers, and shopping maniacs off, with the usual waterfront condominiums and duty free shops. When you look at a map, it is just a tiny speck in the Caribbean Sea, 180 miles northwest of Jamaica and 195 miles south of Cuba.
After our Stingray adventure, we met up with Bert's nephew, Jason and his wife, Monette and their three lovely daughters. Both Jason and Monette are working in the International Banking business Cayman Island Part II Cayman Island Part II . All of their three girls Shayana, Coco, and Rio were born in Georgetown, Cayman Islands. Seeing the girls with their spontaneous, natural, and seemingly boundless joy, made my mood lift. They welcomed us into their loving home, a beautifully furnished ``homey`` home where a wooden sofa bed waits invitingly, huge windows giving one a glimpse of the garden surrounding. The girls enthusiastically and proudly showed us all around the house and all their beautiful bedrooms filled with toys and girl's trappings. Shayana and Rio performed well applauded magic tricks while Monette whipped up a BBQ and we ate some incredibly tasting home cooked food.
Jason came home from work for a lunch break and an all too short visit. We didn't have a lot of time at Grand Cayman and our visit with Jason, Monette, and the girls, was far too short. But, here, we discovered family lore. We're so proud and so very happy for Jason and Monette for the way they are bringing up three very charming and lovely daughter's in Cayman. We can understand why Tony, is always waiting for more pictures of the girls, and why the families in Vancouver are always waiting for their annual visits.
Later, Monette drove us back to the port to catch our tender. Which was waiting to get back to the ship, I took a last look at the Seven Mile Beach with the blue sea water and the sand and the very blue sky of the Caribbean. I then accepted that Cayman offers guests an unforgettable escape from the everyday. One thing that islanders can find is quiet, a hush like the fluttering of songbirds, the swaying of palms, and your own heartbeat. This is island living at its best!!!
