Sea Days, Fun Days
The Unexpected Boys during their performance.

Pacific Ocean
A Polynesian team is on board the ship to teach us some cultural activities, prior to arriving on Easter Island, and sailing toward French Polynesia. We have learned how to make necklaces and bracelets from Kukui nuts, and we see the ladies who made them, proudly wearing them around the ship. We also made head crowns and corsages from real Ti leaves flown straight in from Hawaii. During the afternoon, we have a choice of attending a Ukulele class, Conch Shell blowing, playing Bamboo percussion instruments, and learning Tahitian music, and Dances. There are the regular classroom activities such as computer classes, water color, drawing, and photography related training lectures. In between these classes, we have professional guest lecturers, lecturing on topics related to the Islands, and the areas we are going to visit in the upcoming Ports.
A lot of the time, we are so busy that our only break, is to exchange the latest notes on “St. Veronica” and the “Commando Guy” so we have some more laughter!!! Around the ship, it seems there is a small “herd” of mental defectives, reminding us of our favorite coffee shop back home. For instance the “Commando Guy” was seen by Bert laughing out so loud each time he passed by the automatic door to the Lido Aft pool. He was going back and forth through the door, and laughing louder each time. To help the confused Lido dining attendant, Bert said, “Get a straight jacket!” He was also seen at the gym, in just his underwear shorts. Inside his skimpy shorts, it looked like he was hiding something from the kitchen. His shorts were so skimpy that it looked like he had stolen a Yukon gold potato, a nugget potato, a small grape (in the middle), and tried to hide them all in his shorts!!! St. Veronica, otherwise known as “Cher”to the majority of passengers, continues to amaze us with her latest Project Runway each time she goes to the theater at night. All eyes are on her, and her mound of long curly hair! One night she sat beside Bert at the theater. My eyes rolled when I glanced at her deadly weapon shoes. They looked like one of those hooked knives we saw at the Gold Museum, that could remove a man's jewels in one swift hook!!.
“Just what she needed!” exclaimed our Brit acquaintance referring to a man with 3 muffins on one plate, and a stack of pancakes on another, topped with a mound of sweet berries & syrup. We turned around and we saw a 300+ lbs+man, five feet tall wobbling side to side struggling to get to his table. “I swear, if my tailor friend offered to make a suit for him, it would require fifty yards of fabric!” he continued. We broke out into laughter just as we always do, in between activities during sea days.

The Lido Deck is home to the ship's largest pool, the Lido Pool.
Women with French “kissing lips”; even if they are not from France or Quebec, with matching Michael Jackson noses, continue to be so vain. They shop like hell and if the items from the 5th floor gallery were moved to a few tables set up at the Lido Midships, they raced and pushed their way forward so they could shop for the same items! They were loaded with sequins and glitter during our Las Vegas night. If they were to stand together in one area at the La Fontaine dining room, their krypton- sized bling-blings are more than enough to weaken Superman.
Our drawing classes are fun and challenging. We had a live, young and pretty model one time. Our instructor said he is jealous that we have such model. During his time in school, they always had old models with funny robes and they disrobe right away. One time, he asked somebody to volunteer from the class and afterwards, he left to get some more papers. When he came back, he was shocked that our volunteer was posing some risqué moves on top of the kitchen table. “What are you doing?” he asked while everybody was laughing hysterically.
The Polynesian team on board was a welcome change. They are fun and have really taught us a lot in just a few days. Their Zumba routine is known to have “whacked out”everybody who participated. Their Tahitian moves and dances are so graceful and can make any frigid man or women come alive (arise??)! If only our friend Marcelle could see their hips move, oh la la, what fun she would have, even if only in her dreams...
